Nelson Mandela's House

The Nelson Mandela National Museum, commonly referred to as Mandela House, is the house on Vilakazi Street, Orlando West, Soweto, South Africa, where Nelson Mandela lived from 1946 to 1962.

Cradle of Humankind

The site currently occupies 47,000 hectares and contains the Sterkfontein Caves, where the 2.3-million year-old fossil Australopithecus africanus (nicknamed "Mrs. Ples") was found in 1947. See fossils, learn about how humankind was born, view stone tools that are up to one million years old, and much more.
